Oral appliances
SomnoGuard® oral appliances (also known as mandibular advancement devices) are used to treat snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). We offer prefabricated appliances as well as custom-made systems manufactured individually in a dental laboratory.

How does SomnoGuard® work?
Part of the upper respiratory tract, particularly the area between the soft palate and the larynx, is predominantly muscle. If the muscles are tense, the pharynx is widened. If the muscles relax during sleep, the lower jaw and tongue fall back, especially when lying on your back. The airways are narrowed, so that the breathing air has to be sucked in faster and with higher pressure. This can lead to vibration and fluttering of the soft tissue and thus to the typical snoring noise.
The SomnoGuard® oral appliances cause the desired advancement of the lower jaw and tongue and thus the opening of the upper respiratory tract. The goal is to keep the soft tissue and muscles of the upper airways taut. The vibration and fluttering of the soft tissue (soft palate and uvula) can be reduced or, in the best case, even prevented.
Before treatment, a doctor should use diagnostic tests to clarify the cause of snoring.
Custom-made oral appliances
Custom-made oral appliances are manufactured in a dental laboratory after a dentist takes an impression of the teeth. They allow for individual adaptation to the patient's teeth and jaw structure.
