What is SomnoGuard® 3?

SomnoGuard® 3 is a one-piece, prefabricated oral appliance in its 3rd generation. The mandibular advancement device is used for the treatment of snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which is accompanied by nocturnal breathing pauses. The oral appliance is made of a thermoplastic material that softens when heated in a hot water bath. The advancement of the lower jaw is achieved during the fitting process by biting into the thermoplastic material.

How does SomnoGuard® 3 work?

SomnoGuard® 3 is worn in the mouth at night. The one-piece oral appliance gently moves the lower jaw forward, thus keeping the upper airways open. This can reduce or prevent the vibration and fluttering of the soft tissue in the throat and thus the typical snoring sound.

How is SomnoGuard® 3 fitted?

SomnoGuard® 3 is fitted using the "boil-and-bite method". The one-piece oral appliance consists of a thermoplastic material that softens when heated in a hot water bath. With the lower jaw slightly advanced, you bite into the warm material, creating a dental impression. After subsequent cooling in cold water, the device retains its new shape with individual tooth impressions and slight mandibular advancement.

Fitting takes only about 15 minutes:

1. Heat the oral appliance for approx. 20 sec. in hot water.
2. Bite into the soft material with your lower jaw slightly advanced. It will mold to your teeth.
3. Cool the appliance in cold water so that the material hardens again.

For an optimal therapeutic result, we recommend having SomnoGuard® 3 fitted by a doctor (e.g. dentist, ENT doctor, doctor in a sleep lab) or their specialist staff.

Who is SomnoGuard® 3 suitable for?

SomnoGuard® 3 is suitable for various jaw sizes. The prerequisites for this model are, above all, unobstructed nasal breathing and sufficient dental status to hold the appliance. Especially if there is uncertainty in assessing the dental condition/dental status or in the case of misalignments of teeth or bite, a dentist should be consulted before starting treatment.

Care and Storage:

SomnoGuard® 3 comes with a storage box, making the device an ideal travel companion.
For the gentle care of our thermoplastic oral appliances, we recommend the Curaprox "daily" cleaning gel for daily care and the Curaprox "weekly" cleaning concentrate for dilution for the weekly intensive cleaning bath. The Curaprox cleaning box facilitates the cleaning bath thanks to its practical insert sieve and can also be used as a storage container.

Notes:

The average lifespan of the SomnoGuard® 3 oral appliance is approx. 6 – 12 months. In case of teeth grinding (bruxism) or strong jaw movements, the lifespan may be significantly shortened.

Note on the right of withdrawal: This product is excluded from the right of withdrawal for reasons of health protection/hygiene if the seal has been removed after delivery (§ 312g para. 2 no. 3 BGB).
